Takashi Hara is a Japanese filmmaker whose work spans narrative film, action cinema, and documentary storytelling. His filmmaking combines visual storytelling, performance, and culturally driven stories, with experience across directing, producing, editing, and cinematography.
His earlier works include the award-winning action thriller Obsidian and the documentary HARUKAZE: Be Like the Spring Wind, which was selected for the World Culture Film Festival in Los Angeles.
Hara later co-directed the independent action feature Echo 8 with filmmaker Maria Tran. The film went on to reach audiences internationally through platforms including Amazon Prime Video, Tubi, and Apple TV.
Hara and Tran continued the story with Five by Five and Echo 8: Beyond, completing the Echo 8 Trilogy. Both films were selected for the 2026 Urban Action Showcase International Action Film Festival and are scheduled to screen at Regal Times Square in New York City in November 2026.
His work continues to explore independent filmmaking as a way to connect people, cultures, and stories across borders.
