Takashi Hara is a Japanese actor and martial artist whose work combines dramatic performance with a strong physical approach to storytelling. His screen credits include Echo 8, Five by Five, Obsidian, Calling Your Name, and the action series Ayotti.
Originally from Toyokawa, Japan, Hara trained in acting at Himawari Theatre Acting School and has a background in Kendo, Wushu, Tai Chi, and Xing Yi Quan. His martial arts experience has become an integral part of his approach to physical performance and action-oriented roles.
In Echo 8, Hara portrays the enigmatic Agent 5. He later stars in the prequel Five by Five as Daigo — the same character before he becomes known as Agent 5 — exploring an earlier chapter of the character and expanding his story within the Echo 8 universe.
In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Hara co-founded Acting For Mindfulness (AFM) with Maria Tran, an acting collective created to provide actors with a space to train, collaborate, and continue developing their craft. Hara served as a lead facilitator, working directly with emerging performers. Graduates of the collective have since gone on to work on major Australian television productions across platforms and networks including Stan, Channel 9, and SBS.
His performance as Liam in Obsidian earned him a Best Actor award at the Monthly Indie Shorts Film Festival in 2021.
